Workshops

SPRING CLASSES ARE HERE! Sign up for my mailing list to be notified of all my workshops.

This is where you will find my workshop schedule for my new studio in Yardley, PA. Can't make one of the dates? If you are a group of 8 or more, either bring them here or I'll come to you! Details in ART PARTIES.

These workshops are ABSOLUTELY NOT copy the teacher classes—quite the opposite. We will all begin with a clean board or canvas so that we are exploring together. I teach technique much like a recipe, telling you step by step what we are doing, answering questions and making recommendations along the way, if desired. Color and design choices are always up to the individuals. You will be surprised and amazed at how we all set out with the same tools and instructions and then end up with so many varied, unique, beautiful pieces.

All workshops feature professional grade GOLDEN Acrylic Paints and Mediums.

My ONLINE CLASSES with Carla Sonheim Productions can be found HERE.

“You are really an amazing artist and a wonderful teacher.  You have a very kind and generous spirit and that totally comes out in your art and your teaching.” ~Sally March

“Wanted to let you know  how much I enjoyed your class yesterday and for your warm hospitality. Thanks for opening your heart ❤️ and home. You are a great teacher!” ~Janet Colainni

“Thank you again for the fantastic workshop! I'm very proud of my tree and I showed pictures of it to my extended family in Italy and received many praises. Also you are a wonderful host offering us  beverages and lunch that fits everybody's needs. I felt very comfortable with  everybody and I'm very grateful for your generosity as a person, teacher and artist.” ~Laura DeSantis

THIS CLASS IS FULL

GUEST INSTRUCTOR! Two full days, Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, 10:00 - 4:00 p.m.

I’m so excited to offer two full days with my dear friend and talented colleague, Tom Hlas, who will be the guest instructor for this fun, exploratory, immersive, color and shape filled weekend class! Tuition includes instruction, handouts, ALL your supplies, refreshments and lunch each day. This special workshop is limited to 10 participants… I expect it to fill, so don’t delay if you are interested.

In this two-day workshop we’ll take a fresh look at some basic principles that bring strength and clarity to our paintings. We’ll first work in black and white to help instill the principles and put them into practice. Then we’ll move to color, mixed media collage and color harmony. These principles will empower you to create work that's uniquely you! You’ll learn to view your paintings and the art of others in a powerful way as well as gain insight into how to get unstuck when faced with painting challenges. As always, workshops here are for both artists and non-artists alike and all levels of ability are welcome and celebrated!

Throughout the workshop, we’ll work with a full line of GOLDEN acrylic paints and mediums, a variety of drawing materials as well as collage elements— on THREE! 12” x 12” wood panels that we will bounce around on during both days. We will even experiment with glazing as well as some other special acrylic effects that mimic wax encaustics.

Tom Hlas is one of the sweetest and most generous artists I am privileged to know. He is a mixed media artist living and working in Norfolk, CT, who works primarily in acrylics and collage. He was born and raised near a small town in Iowa where he grew up the eighth of ten siblings. His experiences and memories of rural Iowa, and now rural Connecticut, have had a large impact on his work. He has exhibited his work extensively in the Connecticut/New York/Philadelphia area and teaches at the West Hartford Art League in West Hartford, CT. www.tomhlas.com
